Management Science and Management Innovation (MSMI) is an annual conference on topics such as "marketing engineering,"Financial Engineering," "Calculation management methods," "Engineering Education and Training," "Vocational and Technical Education," "Education Reform," and "Commercial teaching and education." These "multiple topics of interest" appear in the sprawling list under the heading of "Call for Paper" on the MSMI2019 website. The logo for the 2019 conference is a globe with bank notes plastered on it. Although the domain name msmi2019.org is registered to GoDaddy.com, the address is Guangdong, and the keynote speakers are from mainland China and Taiwan. The only US member of the very large conference committee is Qiang Cheng, an Associate Professor in Computer Science (Division of Biomedical Informatics) at the University of Kentucky. Listed as a sponsor is Atlantis Press, which publishes conference proceedings galore online.

OLC may be a brand name of Scientific Federation. Its email treats me as a "Cutting-edge" researcher on "Immunology and Immune system" with "eminence in the field" even though I have never studied the subject and have no medical expertise.

Bioscope Group

Conferences and courses from Bioscope could be the product of enterprising faculty in Lisbon. Their motto is "at the forefront of science," and they sell books of abstracts (for 200 Euros) from past conferences. They also publish a Journal of Integrated OMICS (JIOMICS), which consists largely of "selected abstracts" from their conferences on such subjects as "Urine OMICS." The "editorial team" on the website is a blank page.

UPDATE (17 Sept. 2019): The website of the journal now lists two editors at www.jiomics.com/index.php/jio/about/editorialTeam. In response to an email from the first editor, Jose Luis Capelo Martinez, I have made changes to the original posting. The most significant is the removal of a statement on the absence of any abstracts on forensic science in the "1st International Caparica Conference On Translational Forensics (FORENSICS 2017), Vol 7, No 1 (2017), Jun 2017 ISSN 2182-0287." The abstracts can be found on pages 54-110 of Issue 2. Additional email with Dr. Martinez confirms that the Bioscope conferences are the work of bona fide academics.

The website INAIT-CONF.ORG is registered to namecheap.com. Cambridge University's Hughes Hall hosts rents rooms and caters events. Corgascience, "a scientific corporation which specializes in the organization and management of scientific events including congresses" is the go-between.

Asia in Dubai: The Asian Conference on Science, Technology & Medicine

The Asian Conference on Science, Technology & Medicine (ACSTM) is an annual production of the United Arab Emirates' Asian Council of Science Editors (ACSE). On Facebook, ACSE presents itself as "the voice of Asia." The officers and directors of the organization are from Egypt, India, UAE, Croatia, UAE, UK, USA, and Bangladesh. Relevant domains are registered to the Instra Corporation Pty Ltd in Dubai. The website's About Us page explains that "[t]he ACSE is the first and the foremost organization in Asia, that aims to provide a unified and active platform for Asian editors and scholars to understand about their editorial problems, explore solutions and devotedly take up the future challenges to enhance the quality of Asian Scientific and Scholarly publications."

The "photographic memories" page of the ACSTM website indicates that the now-Asian conference used to be the "World Conference on Science, Technology & Medicine." It also mentions that Medwin Publications is involved. (A Medwin journal contacted me as one of the "eminent scientists, who have significant involvement in the advancement of research" in vaccines; in response to my offer of "a paper reporting that I still got some colds after being vaccinated against the flu," Medwin urged me to submit the valuable manuscript.)

Meetings International, where "measurable researchers head out"

The About Us page (5/19/18) for Meetings International promises to teach you "to be even more audacious and bold than you are now and free to grow your mind, grow your business, and grow your bottom-line." The domain Meetingsint.com also is now hidden by a proxy registrant, but in 2017, it was registered to Srinubabu Gedela, Meetings International Pte Ltd, 28 Bukit Pasoh Road, , Yee Lan Court, Singapore. In orher words, it is yet another way to suck people into paying for Omics events. It seems to have taken over the marketing of the International Conference on Forensic Research & Technology from the Omics front, Conference Series.

Just to see who might answer (on 7/11/18), I called the first two numbers on the spam from Forensic Research Conference. The "main theme of the conference is: 'Every Contact Leaves a Trace,'" but these traces produced no contacts. The first number was not intelligible to Google Voice. The second forwarded the call to a different number with no one present and a mailbox that was not working.

The hyperlink in the spam goes to a website for a later conference in Japan rather than the one advertised in Australia. But never fear, the site discusses the Australian market for forensic-science products. The "Scientific Program" tab produces the unedifying response "No pdf." The description of the "Scientific Sessions" (none seem to be scheduled yet) is painful:

The International Conference on Computer Science and Information Engineering (ICCSIE) and the IAAST

I don’t know how to classify the International Conference on Computer Science and Information Engineering (ICCSIE). It is obviously Chinese, but who is really behind it? The domains on the emails and websites are ia-ast.org and iaaset.org. These are registered to “Zheng Zhou Jun Jian Jiao Yu Zi Xun You Xian Gong Si [in] he nan” and “Wang Yan Dong [in] He Nan,” respectively.

The first conference was advertised for 2015, in Ningbo. The contact information was sparse: “Conference Secretary: Miss Zhang, Tel:+86-371-55656603, Email: iccsieconf@163.com.” The second, for 2017, listed “Conference secretary: Echo Liu, TEL: 86-371-6336 9863, E-mail: iccsieconf@163.com.” The third and current conference web site lists “Conference Secretary: Linda You, Tel:+ 86-371-6336 9863, Email: iccsieconf@163.com.”

The one common “organizer” of these three conference is the International Association of Applied Science and Engineering Technology (IAASET). The website states (6/11/18) that the association’s mission “is to foster and conduct collaborative interdisciplinary research in state-of-the-art methodologies and technologies within its areas of expertise.” There is no indication of how it conducts research or what research it has conducted. Instead, it runs conferences in Asia based on the belief that “International academic conference is an important way of academic exchanges for people from academic fields around the whole world.” The website lists a “Committee” of academics, mostly from Taiwan. Although no member is from the mainland, its domain name (aiase.net) is registered to an unnamed person or entity in Hangzhou. The address on the website is RM18H, 27/F Ho King Comm Ctr, 2-16 Fayuen St, Mongkok Kowloon Hong Kong.

CORRECTION (8/7/18 ): IAASET is not the common organizer.

The honor falls to a more elusive International Association of Applied Science and Technology (IAAST). The conference website states that "ICCSIE2018 is organized by Beijing University of Technology and International Association of Applied Science and Technology (IAAST)." The university, Beigongda for short, is real enough, but what exactly is its role in this conference in Xi'an?

IAAST name appears in connection with another university, the Shanghai Maritime University, promoting another conference during the same month. The 2018 International Conference of Computing and System Engineering in Marine Engineering (ICCSEM2018) is slated to start just over two weeks from now, in Zhengzhou. This IAAST conference has no speakers and no meaningful program posted as of today. It has no organizing committee -- only an "Honorary Chairman." The email address and telephone number in the contact information are identical to those for the 3rd International Conference on Computer Science and Information Engineering (ICCSIE2018). The "Conference Secretary" has the same name -- Linda You.

Who Put the Con in EuroSciCon?

EuroSciCon is connected to the OMICS empire. The About Us page (5/19/18) uses the address "40 Bloomsbury Way, Lower Ground Floor, London, United Kingdom WC1A 2SE." Although the registration of the domain EuroSciCon.com is hidden by a proxy, the questionable address is the same as that of the Pulsus Group, which uses an email domain registered to Srinubabu Gedela, "the honorable director of OMICS Group." (See "Pulsus Is Another OMICS Tentacle.") Allied Academies, another flaky enterprise associated with OMICS, also uses this mailing address.

OAHost and Collaborative Conferences (CC)

Having been spammed by General Secretary Mavis Ma about a "Collaborative Conference" managed by OAHost, I looked for more information. The Collaborative Conferences website (http://2conf.org/Europe/, 2/8/18) explains that

"OAHOST [is] a conference management platform by scientists and for scientists." No addresses are provided, but the domain 2conf.org is registered to

So are the Collaborative Conferences domain names bmeeting.org, cc3l.org, ccmst.org, emnfall.org, enmeeting.org, icssci.org, mathmeeting.org, and phmeeting.org (although the registered email addresses is emngeneral@outlook.com). The address is for a luxury apartment in the Grand Villas Apartments.

Some positive reports about EMN meetings are interspersed among more skeptical responses at https://www.researchgate.net/post/Does_anyone_have_opinions_on_EMN_meetings and https://www.researchgate.net/post/EMN_Conference_Bogus_Conference_or_Real_Event. But who knows which of the respondents are for real?

I sent an email under the name Mountebank (meaning charlatan), proposing a talk on "Solving the New York Stock Exchange Paradox with Probability Real Lie Algebras and the Ricci Flower Equation" for the 2018 Mathematics Series. There is no New York Stock Exchange Paradox, no Probability Real Lie Algebras, and no Ricci Flower Equation. But, hey, no problem -- I can deliver a 25-minute talk as long as I pay "a Poster Rate($548) as an invited speaker."

Thank you very much for your reply. Our Mathematics meeting is an invitation based social gathering event without outside financial support and therefore it is impossible for us to cover all the invited speakers conference costs. However, the conference doesn't aim for financial profit either and the conference committees could consider to offer a maximum discount on the registration fee up to a Poster Rate($548) as an invited speaker. The time slot is 25 minutes for invited speaker. Please let me know if you can accept our invitation under this condition. Thanks!

The main aim of the meeting is to contribute to the development of mathematical sciences, mathematical education and their applications and to bring together the members of the mathematics community, interdisciplinary researchers, educators, mathematicians and statisticians from all over the world.
Now we set 7 workshops for the conference: Applied Mathematics; Financial Mathematics; Computational Mathematics; Number Theory; Probability Theory and Statistics; Geometry and General.
