  1. Most of the spam I get from Scientific Federation begins with the "Greetings for the Day", an eccentric salutation that I have come to associate with Hyderabad-based grifters. That fits with the Indian mobile-phone number.

    They also end by inviting me to "please revert back with a subject Unsubscribe" if I no longer wish to receive their spam. I am sufficiently Neandertal at the best of times; they do not need to deal with me after I've reverted even further.

    2. I received the following report last week:

      ... I participated in one on traditional medicine organized this past June in Valencia. I attended it with my husband ... I say only that this was our worst conference ever, well beyond imagination.
      They are now organizing another conference of the same kind in Rome ... . Below is my reply to their invitation, for your records. ...
      Many thanks for this blog and I hope many scholars/scientists will check it out, not to fall into the trap.
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      I am really surprised to receive an invitation to participate to another of your congresses after the total disaster of the one in Valencia.
      That conference was so disappointing that I cannot even imagine how you are planning to organize another one in Rome, Italy (my birthplace, sigh!). This is disturbing and upsetting, to say the least. I had decided not to return to you ever, but your message prompts me to do so.
      Please, please, I beg you: DON'T organize in Rome another event like the one in Valencia, where, except for two Indian guys who barely knew English and did not speak a single word of Spanish (in Valencia, Spain!) there was practically nobody of the Organizing Committee, which did not include any professor from any local university, as it would be expected in an international conference. There was no opening ceremony, no closing ceremony, no program available, no certificate of attendance, no Expo, just nothing. Probably, you are not aware of that congress, so I need to inform you about it.
      The very few of us, the participants, had to do EVERYTHING, from A/V technicians to chairs of the few sessions, to clapping to each other. It was pathetic. Besides, there were 3 pediatricians who were there to participate in another conference (on Pediatrics), which was simply canceled (WHY didn't you tell them NOT to go to Valencia?!) and they presented their papers during our conference. Unbelievable! They were so frustrated by the whole situation and furious at the idea of having to return to their institutions to get a reimbursement without any valid paper. Furthermore, the two Indian guys took pictures of us, but we have never seen those pictures. Just like our certificate of attendance, which they promised to send us via mail. The poster session was awfully mounted. We were given so much false information that it is impossible to list each and every one. You should be ashamed to have organized something like that, namely: The. Worst. Conference. Ever.
      But your organization probably does not care, as every time it gets NEW participants, unaware of the trap and of the poor quality of the conference they will attend. You are just one of the many predatory organizers. I am so sorry for the speakers who have signed up to attend your event in Rome...
      ... I am praying that you will cancel your conference ... . You cannot bring your unprofessional way and total disrespect for any scientific discipline around the world, as you are doing now. You cannot continue to lure respected scientists and young researchers as you are doing now.
      For your information, I am copying in bc some emails of people who might be attracted to participate in your congress in Rome. This is just to warn them to be careful. Of course, they can decide to participate anyway, and they might be lucky and eventually get a better event than ours in Valencia, but I feel just fair to inform them. Because we are all in the Academia, and trying to pursue our research and do our job in an ethical, professional way. Which obviously is not your case. ...
  3. Thank you for sharing your views. It will not only save time and money but also prevent the wastage of someones precious research in such useless conferences. I was just going to register for the 3rd international conference and Expo on Biotechnology and Bioengineering (organizer: scientific federation)going to held on 25-26 june in Kulalampur,Malasiya. I submitted my abstract and surprisengly within two days they send acceptance. It was quite surprising so i started to search feed back of previously held conferences from this federation. Meanwhile i got your feedback. Oh God I saved my research, time and money to waste in this conference. Thank you Dr. Kaye. From Arvind, PhD
  4. I have just been contacted by SciFed for a dental conference in Frankfurt Germany in Feb. 2019. Thanks God there are people who actually care about spreading facts and identifying misinformation. There's not enough shame in such acts to exploit motives, hard work, time and money of researchers in general and especially the younger ones. Thanks for sharing and I hope all academic researchers will actually RESEARCH such bogus scams before submitting themselves unknowingly. Good job and Keep it up!
  5. Can some one let me know, whether "International conference & Expo on Biotechnology and Genetic engineering" (ICEBGE 2018) is authentic one?
    I never applied for their conference nor visited their website, but they themselves contacted. I am just worried what is the nature of this conference before I register for it. I got invitation as Organizing member as well as key note speaker.
    I want to know from any one, whether it can be an opportunity OR a trap?
    1. Scientific federation is a scam organiser. They sent me an ivite to speak at a Palliative care conference as a keynote speaker. My field of expertise is engineering.
      They just try to get email addresses from papers, have a bot look up some key words and then send out automated spam emails in the hope somebody answers
  6. I have just returned from Optics conference by SciFed in Rome and everything that you can read here is true - the worst conference, no organization at all. Poster session was held during coffee break and was only for 15 minutes, so nobody even knew about it. Also they changed the hotel 2-3 weeks before the conference, so that people who didn't register for accommodation through SciFed organization had problems with cancellations. There were people in the agenda who didn't even plan to show up, or they sent an abstract and then cancelled their presence. There was no closing ceremony and a lot of technical problems. I am really surprised how poorly this was organized. Despite all of that I have met great people there, spent some time by the pool and visited Rome. But this shouldn't be the reason why you go to the conference at the first place.
