A Variant of the Protection Against Women & Children from Violence Scam?

The email below from "Dr. Kate Morgan, Event Director," is extremely fishy -- no organization, no website, a gmail address, a melange of topics, and a "Symposium Meeting" at an unspecified locale in "Texas." It could be a scam to get passport numbers. See http://www.uia.org/content/9631 (on the Protection Against Women & Children from Violence scam).

SASI Institute of Technology & Engineering

From the Institute's webpage (unaltered):
What began as a small school in with a 9 students in a small village in West Godavari has created a sensation in the field of education by winning national and state awards as well as ranks in JEE-IIT and EAMCET. The very name SASI instills confidence in the minds of many anxious parents aspiring students in and around the Coastal Districts of Andhra Pradesh with its strong roots in West and East Godavari districts is imparting.

SASI has created its own brand image for the values it follows. Sasi Educational Society with its strong roots in West and East Godavari districts is imparting quality education for over 34 years. The total students strength of all the institutions run by the society is about 14000 What began as a small school in with a 9 students in a small village in West Godavari has created a sensation in the field of education by winning national and state awards as well as ranks in JEE-IIT and EAMCET The very name SASI instills confidence in the minds.
Email
I am getting several emails a week (as of 3/30/16) for the IET-IEEE-3rd EEECOS Conference. Although papers from "all the fields of Engineering, Science and Technology" can be submitted as late as two weeks before the conference and "authors (outside India) who are unable to attend the conference can also be present the paper through online," they "will be published by IET and also submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore Digital Library."

As if that were not enough, SASI is advertising (4/6/16) another conference in June. The proposed content is confusing. On the one hand, "[t]he primary goal of the conference is to promote research and developmental activities in Communication, Signal Processing, Power, Intelligent, Embedded System and Data Analytic." On the other, "[p]apers are welcome from all the fields of Engineering, Science and Technology."

Apparently, this "all of science and technology" conference regardless of the name of the conference is SASI's modus operandi. As of 4/29/16, its "International Conference on Electrical, Electronics, Engineering Trends, Communication, Optimization and Sciences (EEECOS/E3COS)-2016," to be held June 1-2, also is open to papers "from all the fields of Engineering, Science and Technology" -- and "authors (outside India) who are unable to attend the conference can also be present the paper through online (video presentation)."

Oxford Round Table

Email of 1/14/16:
Hello. This is a quick reminder that registration and abstract submimssion [sic] will be closing on January 30, 2016 for the 25th International Childhood Education Symposium during the dates of March 13 – March 16, 2016 at Harris Manchester College in the University of Oxford, Oxford, England. Harris Manchester College is one of the thirty-eight colleges that form the University of Oxford and was founded in 1786. We are pleased to invite you to become a member of this Symposium. Membership is limited to approximately thirty-five (35) interdisciplinary scholars who have a particular interest in this subject.
Apparently, it matters not that I have yet to write a word on childhood education -- I still might be one of the "approximately thirty-five (35) interdisciplinary scholars who have a particular interest in this subject" -- and as a "Member[] of the Round Table" I will "have access to ... the Oxford Union Debating Society, colleges and halls of Oxford dating back to 1204, ... and may, on recommendation, become [an] official reader[] of the venerable Bodleian Library of the University, founded by Duke Humphrey circa 1440 ... ." Moreover, my "participation as a member of the Round Table is not contingent upon presenting ... ."

The Oxford Round Table that sponsors these International Round Tables is an American invention (starting in Kentucky) with a history that would impress a corporate reorganization lawyer. At one point, it sued a critic and asked her to "to sign a statement saying that she was 'penitent and ashamed' for making the criticisms" in a Chronicle of Higher Education forum.

OMICS and the International Conference on Forensic Research & Technology

Well known as a "predatory publisher", OMICS is also in the conference business -- bigtime. Despite the California address, its roots are in India. An email of 6/14/16 is entitled "Promulgate your research":
Dear Dr.Colleague, We are currently bringing forth "5th International Conference on Forensic Research & Technology along with external scientific association with the researches, academicians, and Forensic market leaders around the globe, scheduled during Oct 31- Nov 02, 2016 at San Francisco, USA. ... OMICS also is marketing under the brand of conferenceseries.com with an address or telephone number in Nevada. A 10/7/16 email from Charlene Campbell to "Dear Dr.DavidH.Kaye" for the 10/31 conference offered its
Greetings !! We are writing this mail to announce the commencement of "5th International Conference on Forensic Research & Technology” ... Oct 31- Nov 02, 2016 ... On February 16 and again on April 1, 2017, Charlene invited me
as a Speaker to attend the "6th International Conference on Forensic Research & Technology" (Forensic Research 2017) to be held in Houston, USA on September 18-20, 2017, which is a globally renowned annual conference. The conference theme for 2017 is “Setting Archetypes in the Global Forensics Realm”
(The full invitation, including two promises of "certification" by nothing less than the conference's own "organizing committee" is at a more general description of OMICS' Conference Series.)

The recognition of my putative expertise extends well beyond my knowledge of forensic science. For example:
Dear Dr.Kaye, David, ... Beneficial Microbes 2016 is specifically premeditated with a unifying axiom providing pulpit to widen the imminent scientific creations. The main theme of the conference is “Exploiting power of Microbes for the Industrial Development ". Submit your abstract at: http://beneficialmicrobes.conferenceseries.com/call-for-abstracts.php. ... Yours Sincerely, Enora Blake, Beneficial Microbes 2016, 2360 Corporate Circle, Suite 400 Henderson, NV 89074-7722, USA, Tel: 1-888-843-8169, beneficialmicrobes@microbiologyconferences.com
Later (7/28/16), I received an unsolicited elevation to the organizing committee in an email entitled "Be a part at our Conference":
Dear Dr. Kaye, David, ... Based on your expertise we would like to honor you by giving the position as an Organizing Committee Member for Beneficial Microbes -2016. Privileges for Organizing Committee: Plenary speech opportunity, ... Promotions for your own labs will be feasible ... Best Regards, Enora Blake [no address this time and the new phone number +1-650-268-9744]
Disclaimer: You are receiving this email because of your eminence in the field of Life Science.
My eminence was reduced a notch in an email of 9/10/16, which explained how "Inorder to felicitate your eminence you are being invited as our Invited Speaker to the conference. ... Looking forward to hear from you, Best Regards, Enora Blake."

The confernceseries.com website lists an organizing committee of three members as of 9/30/16: Choong-Min Kang, Associate Professor, California State University Stanislaus; Provorov Nikolai, Deputy director, All-Russia Research Institute for Agricultural Microbiology; and Rajesh Sani, Associate Professor, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology.

See also this email about a cancer therapy conference out of suite 400. The same strategy is evident in an email of 8/22/16 to "Dear.David H. Kaye , We would like to solicit your gracious presence as a speaker at the upcoming CME Accredited 2nd International Conference on Adolescent Medicine and Child Psychology which is going to be held from October 06-07, 2016 at London, UK."
