More HEET than Light?

I am not sure what to make of "HEET the International Symposium on Hydrogen Energy and Energy Technologies." Inasmuch as I have no credentials or connection with the subject, the email is rank spam. The organizers are still calling for papers a month before the conference starts.

The domain name heet-18.org is associated with a server in Hong Kong and is registered to Katsuo NAGAHATA, in Zhejiang, China. The web page on contact information reveals little. Inquiries can be directed to Conference Secretary: Ms. Daisy Lee, conf@heet-18.org, and the Organizing Committee of HEET, committee@heet-18.org. Daisy Lee?

The Technical Program Committee is full of individuals with the title "Prof.Dr." It is open to all applicants with "good experience." With a month left to go, the conference has a single "keynote speaker," from West Virginia University. But everyone is invited to apply to "Deliver an English speech relates to the conference theme. Get free conference documents. Get a Speaker Certificate after the conference finishes." If you want to be a "Listener," "HEET 2019 will be an excellent conference. ... You are welcome to attend this great event."

On the positive side, Elsevier publishes an International Journal of Hydrogen Energy that includes special issues of conference papers. A special issue edited by Jennifer Wen and Sergey Grigoriev appears as "The 2nd International Symposium on Hydrogen Energy and Energy Technologies (HEET-2018)" at Volume 44, Issue 56, Pages 29389-29804 (12 November 2019). This is a little weird inasmuch as the second conference has yet to be held. The contents come from the first conference a year earlier.

And of course "B2B meetings will be arranged to promote knowledge transfer and scientific discussions for the betterment of human life and health." Whether the spam also betters human life is not mentioned.

The World Congress on Forensic and Legal Medicine (WCFLM-2020) "will have sessions on different topics that are related to Forensic and Legal Medicine." That's a relief. "Below given are the list of topics that will be mainly targeted during the conference." The list is blank.

Conference Era's address is Plot No: 11, Navodaya Colony, Yella Reddy Guda, Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

Coalesce Research Group Aims to "Create Ideal Platform for Scientific Community"

Coalesce Research Group purports to be "an US based" publisher and conference organizer, but the basis for this claim is not clear. The spam contains British spellings and has such telltale constructions as "then revert us back" and "We concern for your privacy." The Linked In page explains that "Coalesce Research Group thrive for excellence in delivering the easier and better networking to move forward in getting the scientific analysis & research work from Academia to Industry & Vice versa."

The address seems to be that of a virtual office in South Carolina. (See https://flakyj.blogspot.com/2019/08/coalesce-research-group-aims-to-create.html.) The key employees named on the company's Linked In page have profiles that place them or their employer in Hyderabad, India. They are Sindoora Jalagam (Offshore Manager), Akhil Srikanth (Social Media Executive), Rezina Alves (Program Manager), K SNEHA (Offshore Project Manager), and Rajesh Varma k (Offshore Operations head). Mr. Srikath came to Coalesce from "OMICS International Conference," where he was "Business Development Executive." (Ms. Alves' profile is different. She thinks that Coalesce is in Brooklyn, where she resides.)*

The journals are mostly nonexistent, but there are a slew of advertised conferences, congresses, and summits. (Please don't ask me what the differences between these types of gatherings are.) Although the subject areas are disparate, the gatherings seem to come in clumps of three held in the same hotel during the same days.

Good Wishes. As Conference Executive Director, it is my great pleasure to invite you as a Plenary Speaker to the International conference on Nanoscience and Materials World (NSMW 2019) held in Barcelona, Spain on 18-19 November 2019. [← Trepidation would be more appropriate than pleasure when inviting someone with absolutely no expertise in the field to be a plenary speaker.]
NSMW 2019 provides the premier interdisciplinary forum for scientists, engineers, and practitioners [of what?] to present their latest research results, ideas, developments and applications in all areas of Nanotechnology and Materials Stream. The conference will bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and scholars in the domain of interest from around the world. The conference will focus on evidence-based benefits proven in clinical trials and scientific experiments.
Our Competence in the field is our competitive advantage. [← "Competence," as in proposing "clinical trials" for nanoscience research?] It is characterised by our professionalism, expertise, and our excellent relationship with our former representatives. [← "former representatives" of what?] We produce cutting edge conferences, expos and summits, bringing together Senior Research scientists, industry leaders and solution providers at a top notch level, creating the opportunity to partner, network and knowledge share.
It would be our honour and pleasure if you accept this invitation and join us. We look forward to seeing you in Barcelona (Spain) in November.

United Scientific Group will promulgate the noble research findings

United Scientific Group (USG) "will promulgate the noble research findings ... to make a step-change in the fields of science and technology." Despite such phrasing on the USG website, the address is in Texas ("8105, Suite 12, Rasor Blvd, Plano, TX 75024 USA") and the phone numbers are 408-426-4832 and 844-395-4102. The website lists Sudhakar A Yakkanti as "associate vice president" and Kenneth Blum as "founding president."

Both have substantial academic credentials, but Wikipedia reports that in addition to founding USG, Dr. Blum has sold dietary supplements to treat "reward deficiency syndrome," a term he coined but that has not been validated. The OMICS Group (widely regarded as a predatory publisher and conference organizer) was pleased to appoint him their 200th editor-in-chief. Indeed, OMICS called him "the father of Psychiatric Genetics," although Quackwatch has a less grandiose description.) He also keeps busy as an editor for Peerztech (which appointed a dog to one of its editorial boards), Austin Publishing Group, and ScienceForecast, not to mention writing an entire journal for USG devoted to his "reward deficiency syndrome" theory.

To join Dr. Blum at USG, Dr. Yakkanti "resigned his position as Editor-in-Chief .. and as member of other positions held at OMICS Group journals and conferences to pursue a new direction closer to his heart." The press release adds that "Dr. Yakkanti is appreciative of the time he spent with OMICS Group journals ... ."

The proceedings will be included in Advances in Economics, Business and Management Research (ISSN: 2352-5428), which will be submitted for indexing ... ." These "Advances" are a shell supplied by Atlantis Press, which invites all conference organizers to publish proceedings under this catchall title.

The server (116.255.175.13) from which the email came is owned by CNC Group CHINA169 Henan Province Network in Linfen (Yueyang), China. Colossal Facet is Blooming the Scientific Facet with a Covet Vision.

Colossal Facet is "always creating and adjusting our information and working strategies to guarantee that the wellbeing framework is at the bleeding edge of logical and also authoritative thinking and practice." It wants to "Innovate and diversify the upheaval." It has "support from almost various associations" for "Thriving the scientific committee" and "Blooming the scientific facet with a covet vision."

The website (visited 6 July 2019) of this colossal farce bespeaks three impressive accomplishments -- time travel, conference superposition, and teleportation. Two of the five upcoming Colossal conferences were held last year at the same time and place. At least, I think it is the same place, but no more specific location than Washington DC appears. The teleportation part comes from the Accomodation Notice accompanying the map of the Washington area. It explains that "Due to overbooking" it was necessary to "propose the following Hotels nearby from which the Conference Venue can be easily reached" -- the "Boutique Hotel Liberty - 3 stelle - Via Massarenti 98/c - Bologna" and the "Best Western Hotel Tower - 4 stelle - Viale Lenin 43 - Bologna."

The putative address of Colossal Facet is 23B Bridge Street, Blyth, NE24 2A, Northumberland, UK. The email uses the address 19C Trolley Square, Wilmington, DE 19806, but it came through an ACT Fibernet server (IP address 49.204.225.34) in Hyderabad. The US address also is used by the flaky Bioaccent Group.

The principals behinds the domain names for Colossal and its conferences are well hidden by GoDaddy's Domains by Proxy. However, on 25 July 2016, Koti Rahul Goutam incorporated Colossal as an Indian private corporation with the email address rahulgowtam@gmail.com and the physical address 12-8-356, Alugadda Bavi Mettuguda, Secunderabad Hyderabad TG 500017.

Magnus Group (MG), where you can sail your boat and pick the pearls

"Magnus Group (MG) is initiated to meet a need and to pursue collective goals of the scientific community specifically focusing in the field of Science, Engineering, and technology to endorse exchanging of the ideas & knowledge which facilitate the collaboration between the scientists, academicians and researchers of same field or interdisciplinary research." If that vacuous and chaotic sentence is not enough for you, the About Us page adds that
Our conference and workshops can be well titled as ‘ocean of knowledge’ where you can sail your boat and pick the pearls, leading the way for innovative research and strategies empowering the strength by overwhelming the complications associated within the respective fields.
It is a little hard to believe the Virginia  address is the international headquarters of MG. Its domain names were registered by Privacy Protect.

The conference spam I received listed Adrian Yousef Rojeab among the speakers. "The London College" at which he is said to be a "lecturer and researcher" does not have a faculty directory, and no CV seems to be anywhere else on the web. Nevertheless, it is easy to see that Dr. Rojeab is very active on the flaky conference circuit. Educated as an electrical engineer, he spoke on the same topic -- "Novel strategy to cure cancer" at least four times:
(1) in 2017 at OMICS' 19th Euro Congress on Cancer Science and Therapy (which was combined with the 25th Cancer Nursing & Nurse Practitioners Conference);
(2) the same year at the 10th International Conference on Cancer Stem Cells and Oncology Research in London; and again at
(3) Allied Academies' 2018 International Conference on Cancer Therapy in Osaka; as well as
(4) the International Conference on Immuno - Oncology and Cancer Science in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
There may be others. His name popped up on a BIT Fourth World Congress on Robotics. If you attend the Magnus conference, let us know if he has made progress on this "direct, right, and simple treatment." It is "a magnetic action on opposing the cancer cells" that inhibits "the lengthening of the telomere of the cancer."

Conference Next Builds "One Modest Dynamic Runway"

Conference Next advertises conferences, but I do not think it organizes any. If it has the foggiest idea of what it is advertising, there was no indication in the email praising the Flaky Journal Blog.  According to website, "Conferencenext is one such platform which uniquely positions all the conferences of all the streams, domains and nature into one modest dynamic runway."

The domain name conferencenext.com was registered by Technoarete Research And Development Association, 4a,girija appartment, mmda signal Arrumbakkam, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600106, India, +91.9944046574, bpdevelopment15(at)gmail.com. Conferences from an Unnamed Organizer in China

I am seeing more spam for conferences that do not disclose who is behind the conference -- no names (fictitious or otherwise), no addresses, nothing but a one-off conference name and website. The separate conference webpages, some of which claim to have American universities as co-sponsors, contain the same Beijing mobile telephone number: +86-13618615451. The email originated from a Chinese server, and the email addresses on the individual conference websites are for accounts from Chinese email service providers.

Conference names with the Beijing number include AICAE2019 (zai Wuhan), CEME2018 (Shanghai), CIMNS2018 (Wuhan), ECAE2018 (Wuhan), EMCAR2019 (Beijing), ICEPECA2019 (Wuhan), ICEPESE2018 (Xiamen), and SSEMR2019 (Hangzhou).

Another common feature is a promise of publication in a DEStech journal (for "excellent" papers). The publisher has been characterized as predatory.

Academy of Art Science & Technology (AAST) "reaches out to all paradises and global cosmos"

The Academy of Art Science & Technology (AAST) website advertises "an awesome opportunity to join the world of scholars and become part of this conference by presenting your effort in the multiple disciplines regarding business, technology, science and social subjects." "This conference" refers to a conference in Dubai and another in Singapore. Two conferences might not sound like a lot, but every imaginable topic falls within the purview of the International Conference on Trends and Innovations in Management, Engineering, Sciences and Humanities (ICTIMESH-19)and the International Conference on Innovative Practices in Management, Engineering & Social Sciences (IPMESS-19).

The website for the latter conference vacuously explains that AAST's "main objective ... is to promote scientific and educational activities by improving the theory and practice of various disciplines and sectors." OMICS Group ordered to pay $50 million for deceptive practices

A few days ago, a U.S. District Court held Srinubabu Gedela and his companies, the OMICS Group, Inc., iMedPub, and Conference Series, liable for over $50 million. It also issued a permanent injunction against many deceptive practices on the part of this nest of companies and the various other entities through which they operate (such as Allied Academies, Meetings International, and Pulsus). Excerpts from the opinion that describe the deceptive practices and other information are posted on the Flaky Academic Journals blog.

Phronesis is for "highly affiliated people"

Phronesis LLC "organize[s] international conferences across the different places in the world, with an aim to provide an excellent forum for upcoming young researchers, scientists, professors and other highly affiliated people to share their research in that particular field." Enough said, but some information on the company and its nascent journals is posted on the Flaky Academic Journals blog. According to its emails to me, I am an expert in immunology, microbiology, and polymer chemistry. Not bad for someone who has never researched or published on these subjects.

Biomedical Conferences from the House in Colorado?

On the website of biomedconferences.org (2/18/19), one finds the following contact information: info@conferenceseries.us, +1 (720) 414-3554, Westbrook Corporate Center, Suite 300, Westchester, 60154, USA.That is an address for "virtual office" company Regus, but the domain conferenceseries.us pops up in a reverse domain name search for Sudheed Kaku of Aurora, Colorado, along with the domain names of a pair of flaky journal publishers (crimsonpublishers.us and lupinepublishers.us) and biomedicalsciences.us, biomedres.biz, eventnest.us, and globalscientifics.us. Mr. Kaku is associated with at least three businesses with the street address 7865 S Grand Baker St Aurora, CO 80016. These are Biomedical Research Network, Crimson Publishers, and Lupine Publishers. In addition, the webpages of Biomedical Conferences are copyrighted by Lupine Publishers LLC and the spam for Biomedical Conferences came from Lupine Publishers. It is beginning to look like

Biomedical Conferences + Crimson + Lupine

are coming from Aurora. There also seems to be a connection to Iris Publishers.
